MANIFA

FBE POWDER

EY 211 SERIES

Fusion Bond Epoxy Coatings

Fusion Bond Epoxy coatings is an epoxy based powder coating that is widely used to protect steel pipe used in pipeline construction, concrete reinforcing bars, and on a wide variety of piping connections, valves, etc. from corrosion.

FBE is thermosetting materials that achieve a high bond to metal surface as a result of heat generated chemical reaction.

Manifa manufactures and supplies various line of FBE to meet the requirements of the oil and gas industry.

Product Description

Manifa FBE EY 211 series product is an External Fusion Bonded Epoxy Powder Coatings designed to protect metal pipes from rusting and corrosion. Product provides excellent bonding to the substrate.  The product is also suitable both as stand-alone FBE and a primer in multi-layer Polyolefin layer.  It is suitable for operating at continuous temperature up to 100°C.

Stand-alone System

Manifa supplies FBE powder coatings that has the performance characteristics important to the application and the construction processes, but also has proven performance in underground and undersea service.  It has proven effective for pipes, girth welds, fittings and bends.

Two-layer System

FBE coatings can be used in two-layer system as a primer topped with well-suited FBE coating and a polyethylene or polypropylene adhesive layer.  When applied at greater thickness, it enhances the hot, wet performance of the first layer of corrosion coating.  It is applied to the base coating to form a tough outer layer that is resistant to gouge, impact, abrasion and penetration.

Three-layer System

In a three-layer system, it includes an FBE base layer, an adhesive tie layer, and a polyolefin top layer.  The FBE represents the foundation for the system, providing a primary layer, which is well adhered to the underlying steel substrate.

Anti-slip Coatings

Anti-slip coatings are suitable for applications under concrete weight coatings.  This coating system provides a rough, non-slip surface for a pipeline to avoid sliding during the lay process.  Anti-slip is applied within seconds after the application of FBE top coat.

Bends and fittings Coatings

With the use of FBE powder coatings, bends and welded T-junctions are protected from corrosion.  FBE can be applied to the pre-heated bends and fittings by electrostatic spray.  The cured coating possesses same properties as the cured coating on the main line of pipes.

Application Conditions

Typical application temperature is 232°C to 250°C (450°F to 482°F). However application parameters required to be adjusted depending on application facility, pipe dimensions, etc.

Storage Conditions

Product to be stored below 25°C and 65% maximum relative humidity.  Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacturing.

Product Approval

Approved by Saudi Aramco and WRAS (UK).
